Green Cove
Day Camp
Community, Connection & Social Growth for Neurodivergent Kids
Green Cove combines the best parts of a traditional summer day camp with a focus on supporting campers’ social growth. Thanks to our smaller group sizes, our high staff-to-camper ratio, and the intentional pacing of each camp day, Green Cove campers can be the best version of themselves here. They are surrounded by peers who really “get” them and highly trained staff members who provide the support campers need to thrive, to experience the sheer joy of camp, and to develop skills that translate to all other areas of their lives.
Who Are Our Campers?
Green Cove campers are children entering 2nd-7th grades who are looking for a fun camp experience where they love the activities and really connect with their peers. Their parents know that their children can best find that success in communities that understand and celebrate neurodiversity.
Many Green Cove campers have a diagnosis of ADD/ADHD, Autism Spectrum Disorder Level 1, or a similar neurodivergent profile. Many others are undiagnosed but benefit from a little extra social support or simply gravitate to environments that are more intimate and/or more predictable. Learn More About Green Cove Campers.
What Makes Us Different
The Community
Green Cove Day Camp is big enough to offer the range of programming and the social experience that our campers deserve, while being small enough to feel like a family. Every camper knows they’re an integral part of the community, that they’re truly seen, and that they’re appreciated for who they are. Being surrounded by like-minded peers who share their interests, and staff members who appreciate and adore them, allows campers to be the best versions of themselves. Learn More.
The Philosophy
We believe that camp can give kids the most incredibly fun summer of their lives AND also help them build character and develop critical life skills. Green Cove campers start the following school year with amazing camp memories and they demonstrate growth in social skills, executive functioning, self-advocacy, flexibility, independence, and so much more! The Green Cove community was designed intentionally, from the ground up, with these goals in mind. We know that each day at camp is an opportunity for campers to practice and refine their social skills. Our goal is for campers to feel genuinely connected to one another, and to develop their toolkits for building meaningful friendships outside of camp. Learn More.
The Staff
At Green Cove, our staff are the essential ingredient to the magic of camp. In addition to making sure that their campers stay SAFE and have FUN, our counselors have as one of their core priorities to act as social coaches for their campers. Our Leadership Team is made up of teachers, psychologists, social workers and other kid experts. They do not just work at camp…they LIVE camp. They believe that when neurodivergent children are in a safe and secure environment, they will soar. Our counselors are college and graduate students who love working with children and helping them develop social skills. They are silly, creative, and empathic. The best part is that they love camp as much as the kids do. Meet Our Director.
The Program
On its surface, the Green Cove program is just like what you’ll find at New York’s other great day camps. We offer a wide variety of activities, each with a high quality of instruction in top notch facilities. That’s what your kids will come home talking about: how much fun they had at camp that day. However, as you look just below the surface, you’ll find a great intentionality around how those activities were designed to support our philosophy of imparting character, developing independence, and honing social skills.
